I am an international London-based ballet teacher, coach and choreographer. I began my studies in dance in Greece at the State School of Dance, Athens. After my graduation, I danced in a variety of classical and contemporary productions in Europe and the US. While in the US, I danced soloist roles with the Company of Ballet Austin in such well known classics as Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Nutcracker and I was featured in newspapers for my performance especially of the Don Quixote production.
As a teenager, I was a champion in Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics and was twice named “Athlete of the Year”. Later, I became a choreographer and coach and participated with her athletes in many International Games, Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics, including the Olympic Games of Barcelona in 1992.
Over the years, I have been updating and extending my expertise with workshops given by leading people in the field such as Gretchen Ward Warren of the USF in the US and Pilates courses with renowned instructors like David Katz in London. I also am a certified teacher of the Progressing Ballet Technique.
I have over thirty years of experience in teaching ballet and have taught everybody from beginners to professional dancers, as well as actors such as Ben Daniels, and professional athletes of Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics. I have also taught company class at Ballet Austin, as well as teaching ballet at the Academy of Ballet Austin in the Youth and the Pre-professional Division.
When I moved to London in 2001, I took up the position as head of ballet at D&B School of Performing Arts, where I taught ballet and body conditioning and choreographed for the school’s productions. I was a ballet teacher at Morley College for several years and also taught as a guest teacher for Birkbeck College. Later, I taught ballet and body conditioning at the Danceworks Ballet Academy and choreographed and set works of great choreographers, such as George Balanchine, for the Academy’s acclaimed productions. I have also taught at the London Contemporary Dance School at the undergraduate program at The Place. Even though based in London, I also teach abroad, including France, Germany, and Greece.
I teach open ballet classes and ballet courses at Pineapple Dance Studios as well as open ballet and body conditioning classes at Danceworks Studios. I am a faculty member of Impact Dance Academy since 2021. I coach dancers in private classes in preparation for auditions and young dance students for entering vocational schools.
As a teacher, it is important to me to get the very best out of my students, taking careful consideration of their training and their individual aims. My very varied experience as a dancer, teacher and coach plays a major part in my teaching, making my classes particularly dynamic and inspiring. While artistic expression is a main feature in my approach, I always make correct technique a priority to help students dance injury-free.I studied Classics at the Open University and was awarded my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010.
